I saw Stan play his first game when he came to the Cardinals. He was exciting to watch for many years. I'm so glad he got the recognition at the All Star Game but he should have been honored to a greater extent. MLB should have provided more time for this and less for Obama's appearance!

A Cardinal fan since 1952 when as a 10-year-old, my father gave me a Stan Musial glove. I took out my baseball cards and wow! What a ballplayer! I'm originally from the Bronx, NY and while friends stopped at Yankee Stadium, I went to the Polo Grounds to see my beloved Cardinals and Stan the Man. Thank you.

I knew Warren Spahn and Johnny Logan, and I was a huge Braves fan, but there was never a classier guy than Stosh. Used to always root for Burdette and Spahn to win but for Stanley Frank to go 4 for 5.He and that red-headed guy on second base defined class. Still do, but that Pujols guy ain't so far away.

Stan THE MAN!I remember listening to his final game in 1963 when I was a kid. It was like royalty leaving the scene. Only it was not a king. It was THE MAN.

I remember as a kid that I was waiting under the overpass in old sportsman park for Stan to come by so I could ask for an autograph. He did walk over and saw a bunch of us waiting and said hey, kids if you will wait 5 minutes I will be back, well most of them left but me and one other kid. He did come back and said he would sign our scorecards if that is what we wanted. I was so spellbound, I couldn't speak, but I did say thank you and he said, your welcome, enjoy the game!I still have the scorecard....

In 1950, at the age of nineteen, my husband and I (not married at the time) were selected to be in a safety movie with Stan Musial that was produced by MFA Insurance Company. It was truly an honor for me because Stan had been my favorite Cardinal. When we arrived for a scene at the ballpark some kids waiting outside asked if I was Stan's wife! After we finished our shooting we and the whole crew were treated to lunch at Stan's restaurant. It was a thrill I will never forget. What a true gentleman!

Musial was iconic. For much of his career the Cards were the team of the west and KMOX broadcast the team and its star far and wide. His fame was (properly) universal and totally deserved. He was without peer.

An old Missouri boy who has trouble remembering if I ate breakfast this morning or not, I can remember eagerly listening to Harry Carey telling us all about "The Man"...Stan Musial. Back in the 50s he was not just a great ball player, he was an idol for many like me.
