For those of you that think this is not an issue, you are so worng. Yes there are disclosure statements in realestate contracts, although is everyone truthful. If you suspect the house you bought was used as a meth lab, get the walls and carpets tested by a professional. Many other states have laws that require homes to be decontaminated by professionals before rehabilitation and remain condemned until completed. Missouri carries the highest numbers in the country for methlab seizures and nothing is done to clean it up and protect the innocent. Children are at the most risk as the residue soaks into the walls and the carpets in which they have more direct contact with. Effects of exposure to residue can be similar to the long term effects of using the drug. Children can be exposed to lead poisoning, causing learning disabilities amongst other things. Another thing to be aware of is meth is cooked in hotels and motels also. Try to stay away from rooms on the upper level of hotels, there is a higher probability that meth was cooked on upper levels due to ventilation. Not that the exposure would be a huge risk versus house labs.

You know alot of people don't think this is a big issue untill it happens to you.If people would just open there eyes and see the big picture. There are alot of states with laws that say meth homes can't be resold, but here in good old Missouri there are no such laws. People who buy houses like this are risking the lifes of there children, pets and themselfs. It is not a matter to be taken lightly. so for all you people that think this is not news well you are wrong.

Good grief. Talk about fear mongering. We have enough to worry about these days. Why add to it with random nonsense?

What do they test for? I've got a number of meth precursors in my house, all for legit purposes, and no I'd never combine them. But would a drug dog know that? If there were decent jobs out there, people wouldn't be making the stuff in the first place. Sounds like another expose scam full of sound and fury, and signifying nothing. There is a lot of propaganda out there, put out by law enforcement, which flies in the face of their own statistics.Yep, let's bust Mom and Pop, and make the house unsellable, instead of going after the real problem-- NAFTA Meth from Mexico.

I just bought a house and on the disclosure report there is a section that addresses the Meth issue so it does have to be disclosed when a house goes on the market. Now what is done after that I don't know.

i'm not 100% sure, but i thought in MO meth houses had to be disclosed to potential buyers. if it's not a requirement it should be.

When I sold my house in January 2007 I had to sign a document stating that as far as I knew the house had never been used to manufacture meth. I would think that buyers who subsequently discover their house was used to make meth could get damages from the seller - assuming they can prove the seller knew or should have know that meth was made in the house. I know that this can be hard to prove however.

i thought so. my sister bought a house that had been busted for meth and she got it cheap (duh). what i would like to know is why when they know there was meth in the house, it wasn't condemned? looks like the people in this vid didn't know they bought a meth house though:(
