To Jack Forder,I don't know where you got your information about OB/Gyn training, but I am a medical student, and I can tell you that we do get to perform live deliveries during school. Furthermore, in most training programs, a typical Ob/Gyn resident will deliver over 100 babies in their first year of training, and by the time they are board certified Obstetricians, that number will be well over 350.

Well, that's nice...especially since it was my understanding that a lot of OBGYNs are trained extensively with a surgical scalpel but never experience a live birth in school. My wife and I went ahead and used a midwife at home instead of going to the hospital. The midwife had assisted in delivering 350 babies and had delivered another 100 herself over twenty years.
