It's about time, they are humans too. Let's start treating them that way, give them another chance!

During the flood of 1993 inmates from all over Missouri helped with sandbagging and flood clean up. Usually, there are few problems with these inmates, because they are supervised and if they cause problems they are sent back and unable to work outside.

I used to work at MECC as a nurse. You would be surprised how many offenders would jump at the chance to help the community if given the opportunity, they are human and most of them do care.

I think it's great! I was shocked at how many sandbags that needed to be removed. We took all the sandbags back from Chick-n-Elly's but it was nice to see them giving back to the community. I think we should see this more often. I personally feel that work like this allows them to feel more human again! I know everyone makes mistakes and who knows why they are inmates but outside those gates, they are all human beings!

When I was behind bars there wasn't anything like this.I wish there had been.At least it would have given me some pride in what I was doing, and given me some self respect. There's no longer any education or training behind bars so when your' released, you're definitly on your own. That's why so many convicts end up back in jail.No work out here,so might as well go back home, which is jail.

This is truly awesome that these guys are allowed to help this way, It will help get back their morals that they lost when they were incarcerated.

Good for them! I'm sure their help was much appreciated by the community and I'm glad the correctional officers gave them the opportunity to give back, I hope it goes on their records as a positive comment.
